Polycarbonate Enclosures Vs. Fiberglass Enclosures

Polycarbonate enclosures produce small curls of material that can be easily swept away and are not dangerous to touch or inhale.

Because fiberglass is made up of interwoven fibers, the material is also more likely to splinter while modifying, which causes waste. Polycarbonate enclosures can be easily modified in the field using standard tools without being damaged or causing health concerns. It’s also a fully recyclable material at the beginning or end of the product’s life cycle.

NEMA Rating

All Integra polycarbonate enclosures are NEMA 4X rated, which means that these enclosures are watertight and can withstand direct water spray.

Integra also has a special NEMA 6P rated series that can be submersed in up to 6 feet of water for up to 24 hours. These are particularly useful in Marine applications as polycarbonate is resilient against saltwater corrosion.
